Often individuals need accommodations on entrance exams, including the SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT, LSAT or MCAT in order to perform at their cognitive ability level. Accommodations are also common for college students and adults taking certification exams for their employment. Accommodations often include additional time, additional breaks, or tests in different formats (computer vs. printed). In order to receive accommodations evidence of a disability needs to be documented, including standardized test data, a comprehensive evaluation, a relevant history, and/or a statement describing the individual’s disability, impairment, areas of limitation, effects of test taking and test accommodation needs. The accommodations assessment is similar to a full psychoeducational evaluation but it also includes the additional information required for documenting specific testing accommodation needs. Please see the psychoeducational evaluation section for more information.
